Self-awareness.
They call it the intrinsic human trait that separates us from the beasts of the jungle.
Well, I've finally made that leap.
It's amazing how long I've been such a jerk.
Yes, a jerk.
(Amid a few gasps of surprise and mostly snorts of derision)
All along, I've been acting exactly like those I always professed to hate.
Oh, the irony.
To all the people that I've wronged over the last year and a half, perhaps it's far too late, but I would still like to say sorry. It won't change anything, I know, but it's only fair that I do apologize.
I need professional help.
I'll be going away for some time to get it.
You guys probably won't see me for awhile. If you do, say hi, k?
When I'm back, I hope to be a much better person.
'til then, you guys all take care.
I will miss you all.
Especially you.
Ciao.
Is it any wonder now The stars around me Are not the brightest of them all From standing proud To falling like a domino, down And out, somehow
All that I remember now About being by your side Is having just the most amazing time But nothing lasts forever We're just human after all...
I feel stronger now, but it's not easy To feel the pride after the fall Feeling like I've gotta go So it's looking like I'll never know Why you left at all
It'll hit you with a power At anytime, at any hour But we can learn to make it If we all stand tall It doesn't have to matter We're just human after all...
I work it out and I feel somehow, That you were bringing out the best in me So why do I feel down When changes always do you good Am I feeling like I should?
From standing proud To falling like a domino, down And out, somehow It'll hit you with a power At anytime, at any hour Let it be a lesson to you all Your crying doesn't matter at all
It doesn't matter at all, we're just human It doesn't matter at all, we're just human It doesn't matter at all, we're just human...
I need to take stock of my life, need to figure out what it is I really want in life.
What I really want.
I need to be less self-righteous.
I need to learn that not every situation calls for the patented approach of "shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more, and when everybody's dead, try to ask a question or two".
In other words, I do NOT need to go after a fly with a bazooka.
I need to stop expecting so much, and start giving more selflessly.
I need to let go, to hold closer.
Most of all, I need to be who I really think I wanna be.
Put my money where my mouth is.
Might wanna take out that big bloody foot there first, though.
I dunno about you guys, but, back when I was growing up they didn't teach us to, well, to just abandon people.
And when you had a problem with someone, you told them to their face, or else you kept it solely to yourself.
I want to remain uninvolved in all the politics. But it's costing me so much.
Where is the love, people?
God, why is it that the wicked prosper? Must I be like Job?
Must I suffer so much that I might know You?
Sometimes I wonder what lies ahead How long till my hunger is fed They say it's hard to make it in this part of town So many people on this merry-go-round
Some folks try astrology Some turn to crystal balls To find an answer, to get through it all I just fall on my knees and I try to pray In the silence I can hear Him say
The river runs, and the river hides Out to the ocean and under the sky I promise you, the answer will come Hold on to patience and watch for the sign Everything in its time
I often feel like I'm two steps behind Somebody must have moved that finish line There are a thousand reasons Why I should give up But I'm stubborn in the things I believe
The river runs and the river hides Out to the ocean and under the sky I promise you, the answer will come Hold on to patience and watch for the sign
'Cause maybe there's another plan One I still can't see A little surprise, like your love in my life Funny how time changes how we see
There are a thousand reasons Why I should give up But I'm stubborn in the things I believe
The river runs, and the river hides Out to the ocean and under the sky I promise you, the answer will come Hold on to patience and watch for the sign Everything in its time Everything in its time...
